Chairperson's AGM report
Flyers 40 Years On & Still Going Strong !!
What a busy first full season as Chairman of Fishersgate Flyers and a very sad one. Neil Martin one of our long standing coaches and committee members unfortunately lost his battle to cancer in October last year. Neil was a true gentleman and a tireless supporter of the club for nearly 10 years. I am sure Neil has been looking down on us and following as many Flyers teams as possible wishing them luck. He is and will continue to be missed by everyone who knew him.
On a happier note I am pleased to report the club continues to be a successful on and off the field in its 40th year anniversary. We continue to make strides to ensure our club is represented at all age groups together with the continued commitment to the FA's respect campaign.
On the field we have strong numbers within the small sided teams, ages U7's through to u10's which is down to commitment of all the coaches. Well done everyone and thanks for your continued support. 11 aside has seen a mix bag of results with most teams maintaining the status in their respect leagues.
A special mention to our under 12 boys who finished 2nd in division 2 which should secure them promotion to division 1 next year, well done boys. A lot of hard work and commitment is put into every team so a big thank you to all coaches, parents and players for their continued support.
Off the field I am very pleased to report that the race night and sponsored walk raised much needed funds. Thank you to everyone involved in the sponsored walk, also a big thank you to Emma Matthews and all the volunteers, helpers and individuals who donated prizes ensuring the race night was a great success.
In fact a massive thank you to all our sponsors, without your support we wouldn't have a successful football club.
A big thank you to Ken Bridge our retiring Club Secretary for his tireless efforts and commitment to the club. Ken has now passed over the reins to Pete Brooks who I look forward to working with going forward.
Finally thank you's to Mike for all his efforts as Treasurer and Graham our clubs Child Protection Officer.
I wish all the players, coaches, parents and anyone else who has been involved in the club a very enjoyable summer break.
Retiring Secretary's Report
After six years as secretary I am now standing down. My age and personal responsibilities have forced my decision to stop doing a service that has given me great pleasure. All good things must come to an end.
Technology has become a more dominant feature each year and without the support and patience of officers and managers I would not have got this far .I thank them all both past and present.
Among the parents I have made many good friends. I will see you all around for a while yet. Through the club I have also made good friends with league officers and secretaries of other clubs.
We have held our well respected place in our community and with our competitors and most importantly retained out Chartered Standard status. I feel that I have achieved and stand down happy with progress made during my time.
